Manager of the Messaging Platform team, a distributed team consisting of 5 to 9 backend, frontend, and data engineers. The team developed Yahoo's Push Notification Platform, sending billions of push notifications daily. While manager, we reduced costs by 40%. The team also owned the relationship with our Email Service Provider and was responsible for maintaining data pipelines synchronizing user data with the ESP and migrating performance metrics into our data store.

• Led rewrite of Content Creation Platform. After the previous platform was included in the HuffingtonPost sale, my team built a new platform utilizing the new publishing API in only 2 months. The new platform allowed better editor support and tighter integrations with the existing publishing tools.• Improved developer efficiency by contributing to an oversight committee defining standards for the publishing data store. Led efforts to improve documentation and code quality in our internal API’s making it easier for developers across multiple teams to integrate into their codebases.• Developed real time data migration tools for Aol’s legacy content management system. This allowed articles on Aol to instantly appear on Yahoo properties. The tools were eventually used to migrate all data and retire Aol’s legacy systems.

• Led development of a new publishing API. Utilizing Java, GraphQL, Docker, and Kubernetes, the API reduced service costs while increasing developer productivity.• Developed multiple initiatives for company wide publishing tools. I worked on tools written in php, nodeJS, and Java. Updating age infrastructure to use best security practices.

• Built a new on-demand image resizing tool. This allowed us to shut down three other legacy resizing tools, reducing bugs and providing for a consistent interface. During the process I discovered and resolved CDN misconfigurations drastically increasing cache hit rates and reducing costs across all supported brands.• Led efforts to improve documentation for AMP’s RESTful API using Swagger 2.0.

Worked on various products for AOL’s internal publishing platform.Lead to the design and development of multiple mobile app apis.

• Developed Engadget's Conference Management System used to coordinate speakers across new Engadget Conference Business Initiative.• Built OKR road mapping tool in Laravel. Brands used tool to establish timelines for reaching specific objectives. The tool was later adopted for managing Aol.com's editorial schedule.

• Worked with Analysts to add new features allowing GraphScience to adapt to Facebook’s latest initiatives.• Worked with Facebook’s Ads API to build custom ad performance reports.

• Designed a transactional email system able to interface with multiple mail providers.• Designed a Sphinx Search infrastructure used to power a tech Q&A platform, and product search.• Worked with the design team to update many features including product pages, homepage, and user profile pages.• Built features utilizing third party API’s including Apple, SendGrid, and MailChimp.• Helped to rewrite the site from the ground up for the v2.0 re-launch.
