Project to build a robot through the usage of QFD (Quality Function Design) tools and methods. We designed and bult, via iterative process and competed against other student teams. The robot was able to complete a variety of complex tasks, such as mounting an object 5 feet in the air, collecting and sorting balls, and retrieving and safely returning a doll to the starting zone. Fabrication techniques included CAD work, 3D printing, laser cutting, band saw and drill press usage, basic lathe usage, and coding a mechatronics kit consisting of solenoids, motors, pneumatics, and varying sensors using an Arduino in C++.

• Developed a robotics curriculum involving kit and assembly that was implemented in the classroom the following year to teach second year engineering students entry level robotics• Created a design to be built on a small budget to optimize the use of program funds

Responsibilities• Designed, built, and programmed 5 robots over 3 years to compete in various competitions• Managed logistics for team operations: ordering parts, registering for competitions, time management, team assignments, budgeting, liaison with administration• Mentored junior members of the team through the process of designing, fabricating, testing, iterating, and implementing a robot to compete against other teamsAwards• Tech Day First Place Winner• State Leadership Conference 4th Place
