The Ohio State University Aug 2018 - Dec 2022
    Wooster, Ohio, United States
Key Projects• As the microbiology, molecular, and sequencing specialist leading numerous multidisciplinary and international projects, I studied malnutrition in infants, bacterial pathogenesis, and the impact of therapeutics, agricultural practices, and dietary supplements on human, animal, and plant ecosystems and associated microbiomes.• Reviewed the role of enteric pathogens in stunting, malnutrition, and environmental enteric dysfunction in infants from Eastern Ethiopia• Evaluated the impact of the farmers’ agricultural practices on the food safety, environmental and public health• Investigate the rule of specific abiotic conditions and bacterial genes in the virulence of foodborne pathogens in distinct ecological niches.• Assessed the impact of human pathogens, antimicrobials, and dietary supplements on the gut microbiota
  • The Ohio State University
Lead Scientist / Graduate Research Assistant (Ph.D)
The Ohio State University Aug 2014 - Aug 2018
    Wooster, Ohio, United States
    • I discovered and developed over 50 novel antimicrobial compounds to mitigate in vivo specific plant, animal, and human bacterial pathogens impacting the world (n=9) while having minimal impact on the host and associated microbiome.• To date, U.S. P.T.O. has approved 3 technologies (TS-039567; TS-040540; TS-039568) and 2 patents (#62/608,335; #62/697,876) due to these findings.• These breakthroughs will help control infectious diseases and fight A.M.R.• Due to my expertise in big data and statistics, I developed an in vitro / in silico model that allows us to determine with 81% accuracy whether an uncharacterized compound has predictable antimicrobial properties.• The development of such a model will facilitate drug discovery efforts, including discovering future critical compounds to mitigate infectious disease and fight the A.M.R. burden.
