I teach supplementary online ELA classes for children and teens with a focus on reading skills and literary understanding. I also teach writing.

I teach ESL (English as a Second Language) online to children part-time. Schools I've taught with include GVE Golden Voice English, Lingokids, SayABC, and UUabc. Currently I teach with Pinata Education and VivaLing Online Language Academy. I also teach privately.Lessons and language skills- Create lessons and units to meet the needs of specific levels, ages, and language needs.- Extend lessons that the school provides.- Adapt lessons to the levels and interests of each student.- Help students acquire English naturally through pictures, actions, songs, and speaking.- Practice phonics and reading.- Introduce and reinforce new vocabulary throughout each lesson.- Provide pronunciation practice with constructive feedback.Students and classes- Have taught all ages of children from age 2 and up.- Have taught private classes and classes with up to 6 students.Teaching tools- Am proficient with Zoom, a videoconferencing program with tools that facilitate teaching and classroom management.- Also teach on school-created platforms.- Integrate a variety of props into lessons.Lesson development- Have created animated lesson materials using PowerPoint and Google Slides.- Have developed lessons around stories and songs.

I began creating teaching materials for classroom use when I started teaching in classrooms in 1991. When I first taught with an online school that used animated PowerPoint slides, I studied the techniques to learn how to create animated slides myself. Since then, I've been creating online PowerPoint lessons. I've also created Google Slides lessons for a school and PDF teaching materials for an online company.

I write and edit website content, articles, educational material, case studies, white papers, print newsletters, e-newsletters, press releases, and more.I've written in a variety of fields, in particular in these niches:- Education, especially English as a Second Language (ESL)- Health, especially natural health- Pet rescue and care- Job search- Web hosting- Web design and development- Online marketing

Throughout my years with Penton (formerly iNET Interactive), my part-time contractor roles were focused on three areas: content, conferences, and (as part of a small team) staff leadership and member support. Most of my work was with WebHostingTalk.com (an online community) and HostingCon (a conference). Both served web hosting industry professionals, and WebHostingTalk.com caters to web hosting consumers as well.Content- Set up and developed a web hosting wiki.- Wrote and edited articles about web hosting, web development, marketing, and related topics.- Edited newsletters for WebHostingTalk.com and HotScripts.com.- Curated content: featured the best forum discussions online and in newsletters.- Edited social media content.- Wrote guidelines for staff members.- Wrote, co-wrote, and designed informational pages for HostingCon.- Co-wrote PowerPoint training material for community leadership conferences.Conferences- With a team, designed the layout of the WebHostingTalk.com booth at HostingCon. Made it welcoming. At the conference, greeted and drew in attendees.- Promoted WebHostingTalk.com to attendees at HostingCon. I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at a language school for international adult students from a variety of countries. The school had 10 levels, from being a complete beginner to being fluent in English. I taught classes and occasionally individuals of all levels: speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. I assessed students' initial levels and their levels at the end of each course.In addition, I was an oral examiner for Cambridge FCE, CAE, and CPE oral exams.
