From late 2017, I started my practice with focus on SMBs, family-owned businesses and start-ups to help these businesses in the Finance Function. I handhold these business on Finance-related matters and help them streamline various processes. This enables these businesses and the business owners to focus on and scale the core areas viz. Marketing, Sales & Operations, while the Finance-related areas such as accounting, book-keeping, tax & regulatory compliances (income tax, GST, etc), financial reporting, is taken care by a team of experts. The objective is to ensure accuracy in numbers, timely compliances and most importantly, business owners get meaningful insights from Finance to make calculated data-driven decision for businesses. I have handled work ranging from deal advisory to hand-holding clients post the consummation of transaction, from streamlining the transactions process beginning with “record” and ending till “report”, from tax advisory to tax compliances. I joined TransportSimple in 2018. Being a part of TransportSimple gave me a flavour of working in start-ups. This has helped me understand the start-up eco-system better in terms of knowing first-hand how actually things work in start-ups. I began my career with BMR & Associates LLP (‘BMR’). BMR was a professional service boutique advisory firm offering a range of Tax, Risk and M&A advisory services for domestic and global business of all sizes. BMR’s tax wing now is part of Deloitte IndiaI worked at BMR for more than 5.5 years (including 3 years as an article assistant) and specialised in the area of Indirect taxation, SEZ Laws and Foreign Trade Policy. At BMR, I handled tax advisory & tax management consultancy, tax litigation, tax compliances. During the phase from late 2015 to 2017, I was involved extensively working on analysing the GST law (back then it was still a draft), helping BMR’s industry association clients with advocacy efforts on the new law, conducting impact-analysis studies and hand-holding clients with the transition from earlier law to GST Law. Some of the key clients included Listed Companies in Pharma Sector, Logistics Sector, Real Estate Sector and Unlisted MNCs in Aviation sector, Networking Equipment Sector, Telecom Sector.
