In my quest to make a career transition I worked with employment counselors for a year. In conjunction with the counseling, I applied the job search techniques and networking strategies I learned while seeking employment. I gained a great deal of experience regarding modern day techniques on job searching and identifying and implementing the tools used to find and help land a job, including those jobs in the hidden market. The process taught me how to assess strengths and interests to identify career options, job search techniques, networking strategies, cover letter skills, interview preparation, resume preparation skills, and many other skills related to finding employment, including the advantages of developing a target company list. While I have not worked in a specific position as an employment advisor/specialist for which I received a salary, I felt it pertinent to add the skills and experience I have gained in my pursuit of employment. I believe this experience coupled with my prior job and life experience equips me to successfully help others find employment and to facilitate or even conduct job search workshops.

As an accomplished student in the art of judo (2-3 years training) I gained the confidence of my teacher (sensei) who allowed me to conduct classes in his absence or when he was accomplishing other work. I taught students of all ages from five years old to adults in their fifties over the course of approximately six years. In the process I honed my leadership and teaching skills while mentoring the students and maintaining class discipline.
