Enact deep content understanding, coherence and continuity, real-world connections, active learning, critical and creative thinking, and reflection through inquiry-based lesson designs on topics of gender genetics, climate change, the water crisis and pharma-neuropsychology. Maintain transparency in class standards and individualized expectations for each student that promote academic excellence. Keep open communication and conference often with parents, students, other teachers and administration. Address student needs through one-on-one check ins. Encourage involvement and accountability by taking advantage of progress tracking tools like Class Dojo, Miro (an online visual collaboration platform), and the SCRUM framework utilizing an agile mindset for developing, delivering, and sustaining complex products. Oversee the advancement of students through their year-long Internal Assessment and independent research projects; providing consistent feedback, opportunities for peer review and networking with professionals in respective fields.

Implemented biochemistry curriculum through problem based learning and current events that reflect Next Generation Science Standards. Created a learning environment that enabled students to take risks and comfortably express their ideas. Designed inclusive units including the science behind skin color, bio-programming with Python, gender identity through genetics and addiction neuroscience later used by teaching coaches as models for other Biology classes. Differentiated instruction through interactive SMART Board elements, Google Classroom activities, online simulations, hands-on lab experiences, and varying assessment strategies. Established Keystone Club, an extra class focusing on critical thinking and open response questions for students struggling to take the standardized test.

Write integrated STEM lessons for teachers of grades K-12 designed to engage students of diverse backgrounds, explore curiosity and expand global perspective. Prepare and teach weekly supplemental science lessons for elementary students. Assist the Teen Research Internship Program - a rigorous lab-based course for high school students who are motivated to explore their interests in STEAM. Research for and edit the NGSS-aligned published website - learningscience.org - an interactive science teacher resource developed by Dr. George Mehler.
