Electrical & Power-To-X EngineerOwc Oct 2023 - PresentHo Chi Minh City, Vietnam• Delivered 12+ regional (APAC) and international projects (Americas and Europe) covering onshore & offshore wind (OFW), solar, battery storage, green hydrogen, and ammonia plants, from concept design to FEED design stage.• Led the development of 4 in-house tools to boost project productivity & quality, covering P2X techno-economic analysis, OFW export cable optimization, inter-array cable layout optimization, and system reliability analysis.• Delivered talks at international industry conferences, showcasing OWC's extensive experience in renewable energy.• Prepared project proposals, both full and individual work packages. -
Laboratory Lead100Re Laboratory Feb 2021 - PresentHanoi, Hanoi, Vietnam• Managed the overall operation of the 100RE Lab (33+ members) and the H2 research group, overseeing research projects and ensuring timely completion while fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.• Achieved a 3× increase in publications (30+ papers) and tripled lab members compared to the previous term.• Successfully secured university-level research funding for studying `Advanced microgrid systems integrating electrolyzers & fuel cells' ($10,000) and external funding for building an H2-microgrid demonstration system ($3,500).• Developed a techno-economic analysis and optimization framework for P2X projects. Conducted evaluation and optimization for an OFW-to-H2 system in Scotland and a Solar-to-H2 system in Vietnam.• Conducted a review of energy management strategies for Renewable-H2 microgrids. Proposed advanced management strategies based on Fuzzy Logic Control & Model Predictive Control to improve microgrids' performance.• Evaluated 8 metaheuristic algorithms for equipment sizing in Renewable-H2 microgrids. The best-performing algorithm achieved a 25.3% reduction in annual system costs compared to the worst-performing algorithm.• Developed an enhanced droop control for large-scale electrolyzer plants to improve grid frequency under disturbances. Proposed a simplified IEEE 39-bus model with 50% wind penetration to evaluate the controller's performance.• Conducted a review of the new direct-coupled PV-electrolyser concept (no converters required). Developed optimal sizing and operating strategies based on Particle Swarm Optimization to improve system coupling efficiencies.• Developed a feasibility assessment model for rooftop solar policies, considering the feasibility (benefit-to-cost values) of both utilities and consumers. Proposed feasible policies (Feed-in-Tariff and Net Metering) for the Vietnam scenario.• Led 6+ consulting projects, covering the topic of green H2, rooftop solar, electric vehicles and energy transition & climate change. -
