Longbing is the Distinguished Chair professor of AI at Macquarie University, a professor since 2009 at UTS, and ARC Future Fellow at the professorial level; specialised in both foundations and practices of AI, data science, and machine learning etc. with one PhD in Computing Science and another PhD in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems; served on roles including Editor-in-Chiefs of IEEE Intelligent Systems and International Journal of Data Science and Analytics; received ACM Distinguished Scientist and an individual Australia's Eureka Prize.He pioneered a series of initiatives in AI and data science in research, education, and applications since he was a CTO, the first Australian lab Data Science and Knowledge Discovery lab at UTS in 2007, Big Data Summit series in 2009, UTS Advanced Analytics Institute and world-first research Master/PhD degrees in Analytics in 2011, IEEE Task Force on Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA) and IEEE Task Force on Behavior, Economic and Soci-cultural Computing (BESC) in 2013, IEEE Conference on Data Science and Advanced Analytics (IEEE DSAA: www.dsaa.co) and the ACM SIGKDD Australia and New Zealand Chapter (www.anzkdd.org) in 2014, International Journal of Data Science and Analytics (www.springer.com/41060) in 2015; led KDD2015 in Sydney and special track on AI in FinTech with IJCAI, etc. He led many large enterprise innovation projects in public and private sectors e.g. telecom, banking, capital markets, insurance, transport, health, and government services by AI, data science, machine learning and behavior informatics etc. Some of their work led to significant savings (in $Bn) and social benefits, recognized in governmental reports, media articles, and OECD report, etc.
