Dr. Long Lu is the VP of Digital Development and the CDSO (Chief Digital Safety & Security Officer) of NIO, a NYSE-listed automobile manufacturer, specializing in building electric and intelligent vehicles.At NIO, Long leads Digital Development, a global team that builds NIO's digital infrastructure (data/AI/cloud) and enables the digitalization of NIO businesses (product design, smart manufacturing, supply chain, finance, etc.). Concurrently, Long leads Digital Safety & Security, a global team responsible for NIO's enterprise information security, product security and privacy, vehicle functional safety and SOTIF, covering vehicular E/E systems, operating systems, connectivity services, digital cockpit features, autonomous driving solutions, etc. Long was a tenured Computer Science Professor at Northeastern University in the US. While in academia, he conducted research that aims to secure low-level software in widely deployed or critical systems, especially cloud, mobile and embedded/IoT systems. He frequently published at the top-tier academic venues. The outcome of his research was adopted by the major tech companies, including Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Samsung, etc. Long won an NSF CAREER Award, an Air Force Faculty Fellowship, and two Google ASPIRE Awards. He obtained his Ph.D. from Georgia Tech and his Bachelor's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
