I'm a lifelong writer, editor, journalist and now journalism instructor. My passions are history, human rights, jazz and news.I’ve worked as a newspaper reporter and editor for 40 years and taught journalism to hundreds of successful students/professionals. I’ve led coverage of the second Gulf War, Sept.11 and several national political campaigns. I’ve created an academic fellowship for endangered international journalists, taught ethics in Jordan, reported on mental health in Cuba and HIV in India. Several breaking news stories and investigation I’ve edited or directed have been awarded journalism’s most important prizes.I am open to ghost writing projects, consulting for and advising media organizations, in addition to editing, research and reporting assignments.As the author of a report on the diversity, equity and inclusion for the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, I have become immersed in those issues that I championed my entire career. I can also work as a DEI consultant.
