As a third-generation Alaskan, I have a tremendous passion for our great state and its neighbors in the Northwest. That passion drives me to use my skills, abilities, and resources to support thriving, growing, and vibrant communities.I ascribe to the aphorism that “a rising tide lifts all boats,” and I approach nearly everything I do with a vision of bringing people together for collaborative success. As a local business owner, I value doing business with others that share a similar enthusiasm for helping local business grow and prosper. Buying local keeps our economy growing and builds lasting partnerships and relationships that create opportunities for all concerned. I believe that to buy local requires local brainpower, which is why I hire employees with remarkable talent, and I support them with professional development and continuing education opportunities.I truly enjoy helping other people succeed. That was my inspiration when I volunteered to be Chairman of the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC). During my tenure, the AEDC “Live. Work. Play.” initiative was born, a movement to invest and improve Anchorage, to be the number one city in America to live, work and play, by 2025.That desire to help others is also why Wilson Albers became an Alera Group company. Our mission is to transform the client experience by providing a greater depth and breadth of resources, innovative thinking and constant collaboration, while maintaining strong local relationships.It was also my aim when I helped charter the Alaska State chapter of the National Association of Health Underwriters, a healthy organization now receiving awards for its work. Not only am I past president of the Alaska AHU, but so are four other executives at Wilson Albers.In the words of Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” I enjoy running a business but my true joy is when my vocation can also be used to help others.
