The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center (The Center) stands as a vital resource in New York City, dedicated to empowering and supporting LGBTQ+ individuals. With a mission rooted in social justice, gender equity, and racial equity, The Center provides a comprehensive network of services designed to meet both immediate needs and foster long-term growth. Its programs, including case management, economic initiatives, health services, and social support, serve underrepresented and vulnerable groups, including TGNC, BIPOC, immigrant communities, women, and survivors of violence.As Director of Adult Services at The Center, I lead programs that provide critical support to adult LGBTQ+ community members. I oversee Case Management, Economic Initiatives, HIV & Sexual Health Services, and Social Support Groups, each aimed at addressing the diverse needs of LGBTQ+, TGNC, BIPOC, immigrant, and survivor populations. My work is grounded in creating a trauma-informed, inclusive environment that empowers community members. Through strategic partnerships, innovative funding solutions, and a commitment to social justice, I aim to expand The Center's impact, ensuring that services are responsive and accessible.I’m always interested in connecting with those passionate about advancing equity, supporting LGBTQ+ initiatives, or exploring collaboration opportunities.

Sunnyside Community Services (SCS) is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals and strengthening communities. Our belief is that every person, particularly struggling families and individuals, deserves meaningful support to achieve their aspirations.As the leader of the Adult and Immigrant Services division at SCS, I am passionate about meeting the unique needs of immigrant participants and community members, as well as other vulnerable adult populations in Western Queens communities. Our division is focused on providing a range of vital services and fostering community engagement.Within Adult and Immigrant Services, our programs have a direct and transformative impact. Our English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) education program equips participants with language skills to thrive in their new environment and pursue their goals. Additionally, our immigration legal services provide crucial assistance to individuals navigating complex immigration processes, ensuring they have access to knowledgeable and compassionate support.We also recognize the importance of community organizing as a catalyst for change. Our team actively engages in grassroots organizing efforts around public health and immigrant rights. By mobilizing community members, we collectively advocate for policies and resources that address the pressing needs of our community.At SCS, we are driven by a deep commitment to creating positive change and making a difference in the lives of those we serve. Monitored an ESOL program consisting of nine courses, which serve 400 students per year. Expanded the academic program by developing and implementing structured curriculum. Supervised instructors, delegated projects and tasks to program staff, and mentored interns. Evaluated courses through classroom observations and student surveys. Identified concerns among students and instructors and worked closely with stakeholders to improve programmatic functions.Planned and coordinated workshops for ESOL students, which are facilitated by local partner non-governmental organizations both new and existing. Initiated new outreach strategies including street outreach, expansion of partner organizations and production of outreach video. Disseminated program information by canvassing, through partner organizations, and social media. Aided Program Director with staff recruitment.

Haiti

Produced a documentary film on Gender-based violence in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Project began with intensive preliminary research. Field research followed in order to facilitate question-generating process. Directed interviews, edited raw footage, and screened film for our academic program.

The Human Rights Clinic (HRC) works with victims of torture from abroad seeking asylum to assist them in accessing special services including psychosocial, legal, or medical services.My responsibilities at HRC required analyzing client and clinician affidavits, assess if torture was common in country of origin as well as detail experiences of torture into the HRC database. Additionally, I was tasked to conduct research on instances of torture among refugees in Kenya in order to create a needs assessment program on the ground in Nairobi.
