"Because that's the way we have always done it".These words hurt me to the core of my soul. This answer is never acceptable in my book. As an Operations Manager, I have to be the one to ask "why". Why are you doing it that way? Why is the process written this way? What is the reason behind that procedure? Why, why, why? I have to know why in order to effectively do my job. Why-people tend to be optimists who believe that all the things they imagine can actually be accomplished. They are often focused on the the big picture. My name is Lora Kelly, and I am a why-person. I googled "simple definition of Operations Management" and this was the result:Operations Management is the administration of business practices to create the highest level of efficiency possible within an organization. Sounds simple enough, right? This is me in every part of my being. I apply it to EVERYTHING in life, even maybe sometimes when I shouldn't (sorry to the pretzel stand in the mall for telling you how to make your process more efficient and shorten the line!). It is my passion to fix things. It is my passion to find solutions. It is my passion to make all aspects of life more efficient. I enjoy doing a deep dive into a process, team, business, etc. and identifying where the bottlenecks are.
