About Lora Swatko
My mission:I am the Founder of Vision Advisory LLC, which supports those in the Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) community. I am passionate about using Vision Advisory to connect this under-employed sector with companies and organizations across the globe. My hope is to help people find success in the workplace while educating companies on the benefits of inclusive hiring practices. My story:I was born with a rare genetic disease called Usher’s Syndrome which causes vision and hearing loss. As a result, I use an identifier cane and hearing aids to navigate throughout my day. While I successfully navigated the corporate world for 20 years, I struggled to find employment as my disease progressed. I possessed a wealth of experience, but had a hard time finding employers who were sympathetic to my situation or recognized the wealth of expertise I brought.Until I met Michael Hess from B.I.T. (Blind Institute of Technology), an organization that works hard to advance the professional opportunities for people with disabilities. Michael and I have formed a partnership where my organization, Vision Advisory, helps connect people to employment opportunities through B.I.T.I hope to create additional partnerships like the one I have formed with BIT so that I can broaden job seekers' access to meaningful work!
