I taught a 12-week, intensive beginning ESL grammar class designed for adult learners who wish to improve their English grammar and written communication skills. This course introduced key verbs and sentence structures that are necessary for basic everyday situations. Students were given opportunities to practice their skills and receive regular feedback through in-class activities and assignments. Formative and summative assessments were also administered. This was a graded course, and a specific text was required.

I worked collaboratively with my elementary team members to plan and implement high quality, inquiry-based, concept-driven learning opportunities that inspired and met the needs of academically, culturally and linguistically diverse groups of 8 –11 year old students. My work utilized a variety of programs and resources to support differentiated student instruction such as Rigby PM Leveled Readers, Tumble Books, Reading Eggs, Words Their Way, 6+1 Traits of Writing , Everyday Math, IXL Math, Inquiry-based Science -- in addition to teacher-made webquests, audiobooks and games. I worked to engage students and facilitate the development of 21st century learning skills through individual and collaborative project-based inquiry activities using iPads, laptops and personal devices. Google apps, ManageBac, Moodle and ClassDojo were regularly used for organizing and communicating. During my time at OIS, I engaged in numerous cross-grade level buddy class projects, local volunteer community clean-up efforts, international e-mail exchanges and student-initiated action projects involving personal interest, e.g., Saving Taiji Dolphins, annual Halloween Arcade and Toy Art Card Sale. Facilitator of afterschool Math 24 Game Club, Origami Club, Cardboard Challenge and Recorder Club. Concurrent with Grade 4 teaching responsibilities, I volunteered to serve as the school's interim elementary PYP coordinator for six months (after the previous coordinator returned home mid-year). My accomplishments included completing most sections of IB-WASC self-study with the staff, assisting with the Grade 5 Exhibition, conducting parent PYP informational meetings and leading weekly PYP collaborative planning meetings with elementary staff.

At IST, I was part of an academically rigorous IB World School elementary teaching team responsible for the planning and implementation of high-quality lessons for a motivated, multi-national and highly diverse group of Grade 2 students (6 - 8 years). Some resources that I used to help my students enhance their learning journey included: SMART Board technology, Apple computers and applications (such as iMovie and GarageBand). In addition to this, I assisted the elementary music department on the annual Winter and Spring shows and sponsored afters school Origami and Recorder clubs.

At BIS, I served as a PYP grade 2 classroom teacher of multilingual, multicultural students with diverse learning needs. I collaborated with the elementary teaching team to develop and implement high-interest, inquiry-based lessons and gained in-depth experience working with Atlas Rubicon. In addition to this, I assisted as a grade 3 – 5 EAL support teacher. In my role as Primary Science Coordinator, I developed Berlin International School's first primary science curriculum based on units of inquiry and international science standards. I worked collaboratively with the secondary science staff to organize engaging cross grade-level activities. In this role, I also led staff development workshops and wrote articles about the elementary science program for the school newspaper; established an inventory and maintained a primary science resource room; and selected and ordered appropriate science materials for teachers throughout the year.

As an educator for this dynamic, cutting-edge Blue Ribbon district, I served as an elementary classroom teacher for students in grades 1, 3 and 4. During this time, I worked in various buildings and experienced self-contained, open-classroom and mainstreamed learning environments. I planned and implemented quality lessons for a diverse population including ESL, students with learning disabilities, communication disorders, emotional and behavioral disorders and physical disabilities. In addition to my teaching duties, I served as a building representative, chaired the Health and Wellness Fair and served on the Blue Ribbon Committee.
