I completed a masters in Applied Mathematics at Imperial College London last year, attaining an honours overall which is the highest grade qualification. Since completing my masters I have been working as a musician and a maths tutor.Before this, I worked as a Kdb+ consultant for First Derivatives Plc for two years and three months. This role took me to Newry, Bristol, Munich and London over a two year period in which I worked mainly in the financial sector, although I worked with a quantum security company also. My time with First Derivatives exposed me to the power of technology in Big Data and enabled me to gain integral coding skills in an array of languages, but especially q. I met a lot of great people across a number different countries who shared with me their knowledge and expertise. While challenging at first, I believe having to learn a completely new coding language on the job has honed my problem solving skills, as I was forced to find solutions quickly for myself.I did my undergraduate at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where I studied Mathematical Science and graduated with a 1.1 degree. I received a University Scholar Award for examinations results in this degree, which is awarded yearly for the top portion of results in each school. I gained much from this degree, but most importantly I believe I learned to think analytically and to carefully dissect problems. It has made me ambitious and driven, while also teaching me to respond positively to situations in which I am challenged.Overall, I am a fast learner with an appetite for knowledge. I consider myself a creative person and an avid music lover. While music is an obvious means to be creative in I believe this creative mindset helps me in other areas too, including my work.I am always open to speak to like-minded people and to share ideas, so please do not hesitate to connect!
