Current RolesI am non-executive Chair of ACE Money Transfer Limited, a regulated payment services company, Fitzgerald Power, a leading accountancy and advisory firm and OROKO Travel, a luxury tailored travel business. I also am a Senior Board Advisor to Cogs & Marvel, a leading experiential marketing firm based in Europe and the USA. Previously I was Chair of Principal Logistics, which was successfully sold to Aptean in July 2024. I am an independent non-executive director to companies in the insurance and private equity sectors. I am also an alternate director of the statutory body The Irish Takeover Panel having held the position of non-executive director from May 2018 to May 2021. I have broad board level experience extending back over 20 years, having acted as non-executive director of a number of well known investment funds as well as a licensed bank and fund administration company. BackgroundI spent most of my career as a practising lawyer and was Head of Dillon Eustace's Corporate and Commercial Department between 2004 and 2021. My main areas of practice were corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, financial services and corporate insolvency. I represented the buyers and sellers of an extensive range of mainly Irish trading companies, regularly with a cross border element involved. I set up the firm's Cayman office in 2012.I spent the first half of my career working in the regulated financial services sector and I represented some of the world's leading financial services companies in establishing operations and funds in Ireland. I had a particular focus on alternative investments and pioneered the establishment of the Irish regulatory framework that allowed for the establishment of regulated hedge funds for the first time. Amongst other things I acted for the Central Bank of Cyprus in drafting its first Investment Funds Law. I was Co-Chair of the American Bar Association's International Financial Products and Services Committee between 2014 and 2016, a member of the International Bar Association and a past-Chairperson of Irish Fund's Alternative Investment Committee. I am an active member of the Business Law Committee of the Law Society. In 2007, I established and ran a boutique private equity firm which invested in a number of companies in Ireland, the US, the UK and Belgium. I was a founder director of the charity ORBIS Ireland and a director of both Clann Credo, the Social Investment Fund and the Irish Youth Foundation. I am a mentor on the Waterford Chamber of Commerce Regional Leaders Programme.
