In 1975, following the United States' withdrawal from the war in Southeast Asia, Dao Lor's parents fled from the jungle of Laos to Thailand to escape the genocide perpetrated by the communist regime. Lor was born in a refugee camp called "Banh Vinai." Later, his family migrated to the United States and settled in Fresno, California. Lor grew up in a low-income farming family along with thirteen siblings. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Business from California State University, Fresno, in 2017. Lor has a strong interest in business, community, and leadership development.Dao Lor has an extensive professional background that includes work in the restaurant industry, sales, education, business consulting, and farming. However, it was during the pandemic that his leadership truly stood out. Leading a team of seven, they provided essential technical assistance to small businesses and farms throughout the Central Valley in California. His unyielding efforts resulted in securing over two million dollars of COVID-19 relief funds, which was a lifeline for more than 300 family businesses and farms. This demonstrated his ability to lead effectively during times of crisis.
