Adrian was appointed CTO of the UK's then largest private client stockbroker. Responsible for seeing the firm re-engineer systems for the "big bang" in October 1986 and then provide systems to comply with the requirements of The Securities Authority (TSA) regulations. During this role he was also seconded to a subsidiary software house, then known as Northgate Computer Systems.

Adrian was a System Analyst with DISC, which in the 80's was a division of the Debenhams retail group.
