The Texas Museum of Automotive History, located in Fair Park Dallas, showcased the inter-development between race cars and commercial vehicles from 1901 (when the first auto race was staged in Fair Park) to 1984 (when the 1984 US Formula 1 Grand Prix was staged in Fair Park).The museum featured a program that taught life and work skills to young men and women, aged 15 to18, through a Museum based "Restoration Factory".The Museum closed at the end of July, 2012 because the City of Dallas did not follow through on its committment to provide a permanent facility for the Museum in Fair Park.
