My professional career and many of my personal pursuits are fueled by a deep passion for fostering high-quality environments and interactions for infants, toddlers, and young children with or at-risk for disabilities or special needs. My work for Georgetown University and The George Washington University demonstrates my belief that thoughtful preparation of educators and leadership for early intervention and early childhood special education systems leads to improved outcomes for infants, young children, and their families. I partner with families and educators as an early intervention and early childhood special education practitioner, as well. My direct service work allows me to continually hone my own skills as an interventionist and coach, as well as provide ongoing energy and inspiration for professional learning and development projects. Finally, my work related to professional learning stems from a commitment to helping current providers reflect upon and change their practices so that all children have the opportunity to thrive in high-quality environments and within supportive, responsive interactions.

Project Director, Innovation And Project ItapThe George Washington University Jan 2008 - Dec 2011During this time, I worked as the project director for two federally funded master's level training projects - INNOVATION and Project ITAP. Both of these projects were funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) to prepare personnel to provide early intervention and early childhood special education services to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, and their families. For Project ITAP, I created, facilitated, and evaluated Reflective Practice Groups, which are a model of communities of practice (CoPs) that were first developed by Dr. Karin H. Spencer for Project ITAP. I also managed all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including recruitment, student support, curriculum development, project evaluation, and dissemination. I then wrote the final report for this project.I was the lead author for INNOVATION, a funded $1.2 million OSEP training grant proposal. I kicked this project off with our collaborators at GW and OSEP. I then wrote the LEEAD grant and transitioned to that grant when funded in late 2011. -
