2nd in command of 21-member unit at USCG Regional Dive Locker East. Deploys as Senior Dive Team Leader (DTL) for local, regional, national, & international dive jobs; averages 200+ days deployed per year in support of USCG & joint service missions in various water conditions including cold temperatures, low visibility, & hazardous marine life.Plans, executes, & evaluates operations & training drills (routine, emergency, etc.) of all types & on-scene training of divers, dive supervisors & dive team leaders. Leads training on the functional mechanical & infrastructural repairs on various USCG vessels (45’ to 420’), scheduling & instruction of all dive-related training from new graduates to experienced dive supervisors in accordance with USCG & U.S. Navy diving policies & dive training curriculum (Instructor Guides, Student Lesson Plans, Job Sheets, Diver Medical Training, & Field of Laboratory Exercises), advanced operational dive techniques, emergency protocols, dive medicine, Remote Operated Vehicles, DIDSON diver held sonar, Side Scan Sonar, underwater hydraulic tools & cutting/welding, lift bags, drysuits, light salvage, & recovery. Provides diving life support systems maintenance & repair training including buoyancy compensators, visual inspection/hydro of SCUBA cylinders, surface supplied diving equipment, installed systems & facilities; provides training on ancillary equipment maintenance & repair & diving inventory/equipment readiness status, ensuring all equipment is on the Authorized for Navy Use (ANU).Liaises with the Naval Safety Center & Naval Diving & Salvage Training Center on the latest equipment maintenance procedures. Organizes work into actionable projects & determines key fundamental lines of approach; determines & monitors priorities; supports participation in the development & coordination of outreach programs to promote objectives, goals, & strategies while improving the knowledge & understanding of diving issues throughout the USCG.
