College And Career Counselor
Current- Assist seniors in researching colleges, universities, trade programs, and internships suitable for their interests and career goals. - Provide guidance on pre-college programs and opportunities to enhance students' readiness for higher education. - Collaborate with seniors to refine and revise college essays, ensuring they effectively showcase students' strengths and aspirations. - Aid in creating resumes that highlight academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and work experience. - Assist seniors in creating and managing their Common Application accounts and other application platforms. - Take a hands-on approach in completing the FAFSA and/or CSS Profile with seniors and their families, ensuring accuracy and completeness. - Manage and facilitate FAFSA completion nights and meetings to support families through the financial aid application process. - Meet individually with families to discuss and review financial aid packages, explaining options and implications in both English and Spanish. - Maintain accurate records of students' college applications, financial aid documents, and communication with colleges/universities. - Coordinate workshops, seminars, and informational sessions related to college readiness and financial aid.- Inform scholars and their families/caregivers on a bi-weekly basis through an online newsletter ofupcoming opportunities such as: community service, college/university overnight and fly inprograms, college fairs, community events and also scholar council activities. This newsletter isalso used to keep scholars on track with deadlines and inform scholar families/caregivers as well.● Serve as the direct contact for regional admissions representatives, this school year we had overtwenty-five college admissions representatives visit our scholars in the Fall of 2022.● Plan annual college visits, groups, and information sessions on college campuses.
