Lorena Lazard is a Mexican artist. In 1995 founder of Atelier Lazard, a space to create and promote contemporary jewelry in Mexico. Since 2021 she is the Coordinator of the Contemporary Jewelry Graduate Program at CENTRO University in Mexico City.In 2017 her work was selected at Schmuck, in 2018 she obtained second place in the Latin American Biennial of Contemporary Jewelry in Argentina. In 2021 she was granted third place in the FIO Brazil competition and that same year finalist in the Enjoia't exhibition at the Barcelona Design Museum.In 2013 she organized and co-curated the exhibition La Frontera at the Franz Mayer Museum and in 2018 she co-curated La Frontera: Encounters Along the Border at the Museum of Art and Design in New York. In 2023 co curated La frontera at the Rubin Center El Paso TX, and in 2024 at the Mingei Museum San Diego California, and CECUT Tijuana.Her work has been exhibited in museums in Mexico, USA, Latin America, China and Europe. and in the art fairs Schmuck Munich, SOFA Chicago, Sieerad Holland and Zona Maco México. She has participated as juror in diverse exhibition, being the latest in 2024 The Latin American Biennale of Contemporary Jewelry.Her pieces have been published among others, in Metalsmith, Ornament, 500 Lark series, Art Jewelry Forum and HYPERALLERGIC magazine.Since 2024 she is part of the Board of Directors of Art Jewelry Forum.
