SCIENTIFIC INTERESTIn the last 10 years the research activity was focused on the study of Multiple Sclerosis and demyelinating diseases of the Central Nervous System, in particular of the epidemiology, etiologic factors (genetic and environmental), clinical aspects (including psychiatric comorbidity and problems related to the quality of life of patients) and treatments. The research activity was then oriented towards the learning of quantitative techniques of measurement of diffuse (atrophy) and focal (lesions load) brain injury in patients with Multiple Sclerosis, aiming at the evaluation of possible correlations with genetic characteristics, clinical deficits and comorbidity. Finally, the research of biomarkers by metabolomics approach and the relationship with clinical features and response to disease modifying treatments was investigated in the last 5 years, as demonstrated by the publications.
