Lorena has dedicated her career to advocating for the civil rights of the nation's most vulnerable communities. As Campaign Strategist for Central Maryland at the ACLU of Maryland, she has successfully led legislative initiatives that resulted in landmark police reforms, including the Maryland Police Accountability Act of 2021 and securing Local Control for the Baltimore City Police Department. Recently, Lorena expanded her impact as a Hiring Consultant for the Baltimore Abortion Fund, where she helped diversify and strengthen the team by recruiting bilingual staff.Earlier in her career, Lorena worked with CASA de Maryland, advocating for immigrant communities, including DACA and TPS recipients, and pushing for police reform. Outside of her professional work, she is deeply engaged in her community, participating in initiatives like Back-to-School Backpack drives, providing language assistance to Spanish-speaking newcomers, and supporting programs for returning citizens.Born in Baltimore and raised in El Salvador by her grandparents, Lorena is passionate about spending her free time in nature with her pit bull, Santiago (Santi).
