About Lorena Mitchell

I have centered my career on the intersection of mental health care practice and policy through range of research, program, and direct service experience in mental health care. In all my work I am committed to serving our most vulnerable community members by recognizing that racism, poverty, and trauma compound the stigma and harm of mental illness and addiction.I am currently serving as the Coordinator for Community Mental Health Initiatives for the City of New Haven where I assess current needs and gaps in our city's mental health care system, collaborate with service providers to ensure better quality and access, and envision new ways to support the mental health of all city residents.
