As the in-house labor and employment counsel to Presbyterian, Lorena provides legal support in all aspects of the employment relationships throughout the organization.

Her employment practice ranged from daily labor and employment issues, terminations and administrative claims defense including state and federal court litigation. She was a member of counsel teams for national entities as well as small and mid-size local businesses and non-profits. As such, she managed litigation and fielded cold-calls from clients related to day-to-day employee relations issues, reductions in force, settlement negotiations and arbitrations. Lorena has experience representing various business entities in the enforcement and defense of restrictive contract covenants such as non-compete and non-solicitation clauses. Her employment cases included litigation matters in state and federal court including civil rights and employment discrimination and/or retaliation claims against private and public entities including educational entities and municipalities. She is knowledgeable in the areas of arbitration agreements, all aspects of discovery, and pre-trial motion practice. She is familiar with the state survey process, investigations by Adult Protective Services, and other administrative concerns related to the long term care industry. Lorena has recent bench and jury trial experience having lead or participated in trials in 2012 and 2013 as well as labor arbitrations.
