WindAid is an institute that uses wind energy to provide a clean and reliable source of electricity in locations where traditional electricity is not available. During this internship, I worked with a team to design, build, and ultimately install a 4.0 wind turbine for the Pastoruri community in Peru. The wind generator provided electricity to power lights, cell phones, televisions, and energy/heat for their first aid building. My duties consisted in manufacturing turbine blades from recycled steel parts, making resin, soldering and connecting coils, welding the tower, laying fiberglass and carbon fiber for strengthening, balancing the blades, and sanding the turbines to the required dimensions. This project was recognized in the Guinness World Record for Highest Altitude Wind Generator.
