My name is Loren Fields McMahon, and I am an occupational therapist and assistive technology professional within the Augmentative Communication Program (ACP) at Boston Children’s Hospital. I received my doctorate from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where I focused on assistive technology through collaboration with the Open Style Lab at MIT. I provide solutions for alternative computer access, speech generating device access and programming, mounting, seating and positioning, and environmental controls for adults and children with complex physical and communication needs. At Tufts University and Boston University, I teach Assistive Technology within the OTD programs.At MGH Institute of Health Professions, I am a Lab Instructor for OT in Mental Health, a Teaching Assistant for Abnormal Psychology, and a Faculty Facilitator for the Impact Program. I serve as an OT Advanced Doctoral Experience mentor and have presented nationally and internationally at AOTA, ASHA, ATIA, The Boston Museum of Science, MAOT, RESNA, WFOT.
