My name is Lorenzo de Leon – I am a graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas, with a major in finance. My goal is to work for a business as a financial analyst, director, or manager, and continuously work up to where others, whether theyare in my field or not, to look up to as a source of inspiration or guidance in achieving their owngoals or, even sometimes, what not to do. I chose finance and marketing as my career pathsprimarily because I could look forward in finance, trying to see what is best for whichever firm Iwork for (accounting generally looks back at the history, working hand in hand with finance toforecast and see the future of the company, and I personally enjoy looking forward to the futuremore than looking back). The marketing aspect comes from the simple fact that I enjoynetworking and talking to people. I am an extremely outgoing person, and enjoy talking to asmany people as I can, as they usually have interesting insights or information on various topicsthat interest me, but at the end of the day, it is just fun. The mixture of being able to look forwardon whatever I get into in life and being able to socialize and talk to others is what helps me keepgoing with this specific path, even if things can be difficult – especially in the field of finance!With much of my professional aspirations out there, I have to emphasize some of mypersonal hobbies, which differentiate slightly just to have some variation in what I am interestedin. I enjoy playing games, drawing, and designing – this helps bring out my innate creative sideand helps put my competitive side out there as well, especially when gaming. Design andcreativity is a generally subjective thing, but that’s where the fun is, and it links back to why Ienjoy business so much: you never know what will happen and what you will learn, and I thinkthat the learning aspect of all of my interests helps distinguish myself from others since my biggoal is to learn. I have the open mindset of continuously learning and experiencing new things,like with work or with life (there is definitely a distinction there).

Working in the back was also necessary, like with updating inventory or processing shipments - this gave me insight into the logistics of the company and helped me work with tasks that were more menial. When the storefront was not as busy, I changed some of the visuals in the store to allow for new promotions to be showcased, and allocated different items to different sections to help highlight what was new, as well as make the storefront intuitive for customers to browse freely and not be confused.
