Hello there, nice to meet you!My name is Lorenzo and I am a 26-year-old Italian. My pronouns are he/him.I have always lived in Montefoscoli, a small village in the Tuscan countryside, before moving to the United Kingdom for my undergraduate studies.I joined the University of Leeds in 2017 and started a degree in BA (Hons) Environment and Business (International), which I completed with a First Class grade in 2021.Two of the main highlights of my academic career were spending a year abroad at the University of Valencia (Spain) and achieving a 1:1 for my final-year dissertation, which studied environmental activism and policy change within the context of waste management.I have worked as a Junior European Affairs Executive for 89up, a London-based communications agency, between May and September 2022. My job involved working on a series of Europe-wide sustainability projects with partners such as Oxfam, WWF, the Sunrise Project and Habitat for Humanity.I am currently located in Brussels, where I work as an Information and Communication Assistant at the Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) of the European Commission. After my experience as as a Blue Book Trainee, between October 2022 and February 2023, I was offered the chance to continue working in the E2 unit of DG CLIMA, which takes care of communication, civil society relations and the European Climate Pact. My current responsibilities include: preparing DG CLIMA's daily press review, drafting articles and social media posts for DG CLIMA's communication channels, replying to citizen queries, and participating to youth events. In my spare time, I support both Zero Waste Italy (the Italian branch of Zero Waste Europe) and TAT Montefoscoli (a small environmental NGO) with their green initiatives. I have rejoined Zero Waste Italy as a freelance Project Assistant in 2021, after an internship with them in 2020, while I have been supporting TAT Montefoscoli as an Environmental Campaigner since 2019.Alongside my passion for sustainability, my interests include: travelling, exploring nature, learning foreign languages, listening to music, watching films and series, visiting museums, cooking, exercising, and watching sports.Feel free to get in touch if you want to know more!
