My main research interests include machine learning and in particular artificial neural networks, distributed machine learning and wireless networks (i.e., opportunistic networks). My current research activity focuses on machine learning and distributed machine learning algorithms for resource-constrained devices (targeting the Edge/IoT domain) and the development of anomaly detection for Industry 4.0. In the past, I worked on cellular traffic offloading solutions based on Reinforcement Learning, data dissemination systems for opportunistic networks and the development of new Artificial Neural Networks models. I served as Workshop co-chair for IEEE PeRConAI 2022 and IEEE AOC’15. I Guest Edited the Elsevier Computer Communications Special section on Opportunistic Communication and Computation, for which I am also part of the Editorial Board. I have been a recipient of one Best Paper Award at IEEE WoWMoM 2013 and one Best Paper Nomination at IEEE SMARTCOMP 2016.
