I am the Legal Assistant to the General Counsel of Oklahoma City Public Schools.I provide technical services as directed by the General Counsel and perform administrative functions required to fulfill the legal needs of the District. I perform research of legal issues and questions using legal materials such as statutes, court decisions, Attorney General Opinions and online legal research. Review legal periodicals and summarize articles as directed. Prepare all legal documents, memoranda, correspondence, policies/regulations, procedures, reports, hearing decisions and proposals. Compose documents as directed by the General Counsel. File legal documents with appropriate clerks of courts. Using records, research the status of legal proceedings or property. Prepare agenda items for meetings of the Board of Education on legal matters. Posses a wide range of knowledge about the organizational structure of the school district; functions of the different divisions and departments; and directives issued by the General Counsel of the Oklahoma City Public Schools.
