As Executive Director of the Biomedical Research Foundation, I built strategic alliances with pharmaceutical companies and researchers that resulted in growth in assets from $500,000 to $7 million. I streamlined the process for negotiation of research agreements and contracts, decreasing the negotiation time line by 65 percent. I assisted in the development and administration of a peer reviewed program, providing start-up funding for research projects to be performed at the VA Medical Center. Over a 2-year period, this program funded 45 grants totaling $2 million. This resulted in increased incentive among researchers as they were able to complete pilot studies necessary to write grants for submission to larger outside funding agencies, thus increasing revenue.I developed and implemented a Joint Personnel Agreement between the Biomedical Research Foundation and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, increasing staffing ability by approximately 75 percent and developed and implemented policies of the Biomedical Research Foundation.I launched the corporate 403(b) retirement plan, and developed and administered a tax deferred Flexible Spending Plan for medical expenses to fit the needs of the employees of the Biomedical Research Foundation.In 2007, the Biomedical Research Foundation was forced to deal with the beginning of many changes in regulatory requirements for performing research in a government facility. These issues along with declining economic conditions made contracting for pharmaceutical research virtually impossible, thus causing an inability to effectively support investigators in their research endeavors. As a result, I left the position of Executive Director at the end of 2010.After a short sebbatical, I accepted a position as the Director of Property Management for Lead Management Group. In June of 2016, I made the decision to leave full-time employment. I am currently enjoying life as a retiree.
