    As the Data Manager on the Systems Integrity Leadership team, I led a service delivery team of engineers and assurance professionals focused on defining and implementing a data management strategy as part of the digital transformation of data collection, analysis and reporting for the TransAlaska pipeline. The digital transformation project involved updating or replacing several proprietary and legacy systems. One of the significant challenges was a large amount of manually collected data for the 800-mile, 48" diameter TransAlaska pipeline, which crosses three major mountain passes and 48 rivers from Valdez, Alaska, to Prudhoe Bay. Manual data collection required sending teams to remote camps for inspections, using hand calipers, data logs, measuring sticks, and visual tank and equipment inspections to maintain the pipeline's integrity.The project also included developing data standards for governance, document and content management, data integration, and interoperability. Here are examples of the advanced technologies used in the digital transformation:• Smart pigs conducted inline inspections to assess pipeline corrosion, utilizing machine learning insights from various pipeline companies for compatibility with PowerBI. An add-on displayed corrosion in a 3D format on the pipe.• Drones had multiple applications, such as assessing material like rock piles, inspecting tall tank corrosion, and collecting infrared point clouds for bridge soil stability assessment.• Unmanned hydro boats streamlined depth of cover (DOC) data collection for pipelines under rivers, eliminating the need for large manual teams.
