I absolutely love Flagstaff! Over the years, I’ve helped family members launch new businesses and have owned a successful consulting firm. I’ve served as a board director, board chair and executive director at the Flagstaff Shelter Services. I successfully raised funds beyond the prior budget goals which allowed the shelter to initiate year-round overnight services, that continue to this day. I took time every week to interact with the clients to learn about the challenges and obstacles that prevented them from breaking the cycle of homelessness. It was during this time that I identified a gap in the services being provided by the City of Flagstaff and first contemplated filling this void.I founded ANEW Living, Inc. in a motel along East Route 66 in January 2015. We are a transitional housing program for the homeless working poor that requires residents to be sober, employed, and participate in a structured program that includes both life-skills training and financial literacy classes. Residents must save for an emergency and sufficient monies to cover move-in costs for a future apartment. After 2 years of demonstrated success, I secured private financing and purchased the property in 2017 and renovated the entire motel into family-friendly studio-style units. We enjoy an 80%+ success rate in breaking the cycle of homelessness.
