About Lori Rickey
I hold a Masters of Education, in School Counselling from City University of Seattle (2022), a Bachelor in Education from the University of British Columbia (2019), and a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care Counseling from Douglas College (2016). I am an elementary school counsellor and have worked as a Team Inclusion Teacher, an Indigenous Literacy Teacher, and as a Life Skills Teacher for students with exceptionalities in the Delta School District. I am passionate about teaching and building community through relationships with students. I believe all good learning starts after each student feels a a sense of belonging within the group. I have experience in school settings and in community out reach programs such as Esau House and Children’s Foundation and have a solid understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am a mother of 8 amazing children and love reading, writing, cooking, decorating, hikes, camping (or spending time at my cabin)and kayaking. We learn our best by staying outside of our comfort zone. I plan to continue to challenge myself in a lifelong commitment to learning, growth and adventures!

I am also currently one of the first aid attendants at my elementary school. I have worked in a variety of positions within the Delta School District including behavioural, medical and mainstream class support systems. I am confidently trained in all three areas. I have established positive relationships with the students and the staff I have worked with. Delta strives to create an enriching environment and I am proud to be part of the difference. I find it extremely rewarding.
