Successfully completed emPower Women in the Trades (Cohort 6) pre-apprenticeship program offered through Manpower Alberta and Southern Institute of Technology, which included modules in Ironwork, Heavy Equipment Technician, Pipe Trades, Welding and Wood Trades (Carpentry). The hands on experience in the various shops has been invaluable. Got hands on time in a mobile telescopic boom crane and some rigging experience. Put together several different types of pipe projects including copper, PEX, PVC, ABS and steel pipe and their appropriate fittings. Had the opportunity to get experience with various torches and grinders and tried out different welding methods including stick, TIG and MIG, Also gained experience with power mitre saw, compound mitre saws, table saw including a dado cutter, circular saw, jig saw, band saws, routers, jointer, planer, belt, disc and spindle sanders, orbital and palm sanders, drill press, and pneumatic brad nailer and staple guns. Completed a wooden stool/chair project.Completed 4 week practicum with Brunel Commercial Interiors Inc., in their Calgary plant.
