As Executive Director I am to promote and advocate for Downtown Lakeland, we're a membership-based organization that draws its strength from a diverse group of businesses and individuals. I am responsible for planning and implementing monthly events for our community, First Friday, Food Truck Rally, Holiday WalkAbout, Girls Night Out, and many more events designed to bring our Lakelanders to our downtown to enjoy our vibrant downtown! Additionally responsible for acquiring sponsorship for these monthly events. It is also critical to the success of our downtown that I build relationships, work with our brick and mortar businesses to advertise, promote their events and business to Lakelanders. Each month on First Friday alone, we would draw a crowd of 3000+ citizens enjoying our "little mecca of cool".

I was the director of a Daycare that offered care from infants to three-year-olds. I took the current four-year-old program and turned it into a PreK Program that aligned with the Sunshine State Standards/Common Core requirements as well as the Kindergarten Readiness Standards for Polk County Public Schools. I also provided an after school/summer care STEM program form students currently enrolled from K-8th grade.

I have the knowledge and experience to meet the insurance and financial needs of educators and their families, yet it is not my most important skill. The most important strength I bring to any meeting is the ability to listen and ask questions to find out what you want and need. As an agent, and former teacher, working for fifteen plus years along side administrators and counselors, I continue to serve local school districts as a member of SAC committees and parent-teacher organizations. I want to bring my heart of service to teachers, allowing them to do their incredibly important job while having peace of mind when it comes to their personal affairs. I want to help educators take care of themselves and their families!

I began my career at OJP as a First Grade Teacher and was then offered my role as an Academic Intervention Facilitator. My primary role was the PBS; Positive Behavior Coach for OJP. I was trained through the PBS/RtI, RtI:B program through the University of South Florida. We used that to improve overall behavior and academics at OJP. I also worked with teachers as they used data to drive their daily instruction. We created a data room with ongoing test data, student-specific data, as well as school-wide data to improve overall academic performance in our school. In one of the years at OJP while implementing the data-driven instruction, PBS as well as Action 100, a tremendously successful reading program, we raised our school grade from an F to a B in one academic year. OJP continues to utilize these strategies and remains at a B years later.
