During my 16 years in Kingsville ISD I held various roles. I began my career there as a 1st grade classroom teacher, then transitioned over to the role as a Resource teacher. In 2001 I moved to Memorial Middle School as a resource teacher. Several years later I became the Assistant Principal at Memorial Middle School. 2 years later the opportunity arose to become the District Test Coordinator. I served as the DTC until 2006 when my family and I moved to North Texas.

Calallen, Texas

I was part of opening WoodRiver Elementary School in Calallen ISD in August 1996. I was hired as a physical education coach for students in grades K-5. During that time my teacher partner and I created a dance team for girls and boys to participate in to build strong team bonding, leadership skills and promote character building. In August of 1995 I moved to East Elementary School as a 3rd grade teacher. It was a self contained classroom where I taught all core subjects to my students.

My career in education began as a general education teacher for a new classroom that was opened in January 1984. I graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas in December and was offered the job at Blanton Elementary School for Dallas ISD. The campus needed a new class section created to meet the demands of too many students per classroom. My students were pulled from the other grade 6 sections to create a new class. Our classroom was placed in the primary classroom section of the building with students from grades K - 2. Since our class was created mid year, we were not added to the music, art or physical education schedule. I was given the responsibility of all 6th grade curriculum for the remainder of the school year. The following year I was moved to Pearl C Anderson Elementary School to teacher a special education self contained classroom with students far below grade level. I was provided no curriculum, books, etc. I was given out of adoption textbooks and workbooks for the students to use during the school year. The following year I was moved to become 1 of the 4 coaches for Pearl C Anderson Elementary for students in grades 4 - 6.
