Farming is in my DNA and I believe (or at least imagine) my farming roots go back to the Neolithic (transition from hunter gather societies to farming). 23andMe results show I am a member of the J1 haplogroup which can be traced back to early pastoralists in southern Anatolia. Farmers gradually moved North into Europe . Last year, I stood on the ground in Cornwall, England where my great-great grandfather raised dairy cows. My grandfather was a rancher and dairy farmer in California where I was born. I turned to farming a decade ago and never looked back. Farming, farmland, soil and crop growing is my passion. Joining American Farmland Trust is a pinch me moment in my career. What better way to serve this Noble way of life.
