After retiring from teaching, re-entered the field to work 4 years as a part-time special education teacher at the Shabazz Academy teaching 3rd through 5th grade special education students.

Worked as a special education resource room teacher for 22 years with learning disabled, emotionally impaired and cognitively impaired students at varying grade levels. Chaired countless IEPs, served as the special education department chairperson at the high school for several years and mentored new teachers. Also co-taught with several high school teachers and served on numerous building committees.

Worked part-time as a teacher consultant at Wardcliff Elementary School working one-on-one with special education students, administering achievement tests and writing reports to share at weekly special education review meetings as well as attended all IEP meetings.

Taught emotionally impaired high school students in a self-contained classroom and wrote the goals and objectives for their IEP's. Also served as the 9th grade class sponsor.
