LORI is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and Hunter College. She attended Boston University where she continued to enrich her experience as an educator, teaching English to students in Boston's public schools. While attending Stuyvesant, she taught local elementary school students how to use early literacy skills to read. She was Vice President of the Stuyvesant Chapter of Aspira of NY, a multicultural youth leadership development organization. In addition to being inducted into National Honor Societies from Arista to Psi Chi, Lori has participated in Annual Biomedical Research Conferences in Dallas and Atlanta as well as Hunter College Honors Week, where she presented academic research investigating Motivational Interviewing as a therapeutic intervention to improve medication adherence and reduce alcohol use in HIV-positive problem drinkers ("Project PLUS: Positive Living through Understanding and Support"). After excelling in Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences and Quantitative Research Methods, Lori became a Teaching Assistant and National Institutes of Health-sponsored research Fellow at Hunter College. While earning her BA in psychology, she formulated, conducted, analyzed, and interpreted behavioral research which she went on to present at the New England Science Symposium at Harvard Medical School. She has published written work as an intern writing feature articles for the NY Post Entertainment/TV Department, as an undergraduate researching "Attitudes Toward Rockefeller Drug Laws, Demographics as Predictor Variables" and, later, as a Columbia University Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) Scholar exploring desensitization to violent media using functional MRI at the College of Physicians & Surgeons. When she's not tutoring or volunteering as a caregiver, Lori enjoys teaching creative movement to preschoolers in her musical early fitness class.
