My name is Lori Valkanas. I graduated from Central Piedmont community college July 2005 with my dental assistant II certified dental assistant. My first job as a Lead Assistant was with Forrest and Forrest Family Dentistry. I worked for Dr. Forrest and his wife Dr. Oller for 10 years! Dr. Forrest really taught me a lot as well as Dr. Oller in which I worked with her as her only Assistant. Unfortunately, She took medical leave May 2015 and I was laid off. Over the years I have filled in for them for front desk and assisting. I still stayed in touch with them and thank goodness Dr. Oller came back to work but only two days a week. After going through a divorce, it was very hard as a single mom and now with 19 years experience behind me it is hard as I feel like I’m overqualified and I want to find what I call my home in the dental field! I’ve helped two dentist open brand, new offices, as well as lead assistant for three offices and still have not found my home where I want to stay in an office as a permanent job until I retire. I am very laid-back, easy to get along with, very drama, free, and cross train for front desk. I have learned a great deal over the years when it comes to dentistry and with that being said, I have a great passion for dentistry. When starting a new job, I love to learn new technology, and I do not step on anyone’s toes because there’s always someone out there no matter how much experience you have that may know a better way or a faster way or a more compassionate way to approach procedures in a dental office.
