With over 15 years of experience in teaching, instructional design, and educational technology, I am passionate about creating and fostering meaningful learning opportunities for diverse learners across various disciplines and environments. As an ELD & Instructional Technology Teacher at Estes Park High School, I use innovative tools and strategies to support the language development and academic achievement of English learners, as well as to enhance the digital literacy and creativity of all students.I also work in the nonprofit arm of the Museum Store Company, writing grants to facilitate universal access to museum pieces and exhibits for under-represented K-12 students by 3D printing and the development of virtual museums and exhibits. Additionally, I am a Board Member of the Estes Park Learning Place, a community-based organization that provides tutoring and enrichment programs for learners of all ages and abilities. Furthermore, I am a Manager of Operations & Lead Designer at Dangerous Fruit, an educational technology organization that offers consulting and design services for online and blended learning solutions. Lastly, I am a Scholar in Residence at Museum Institute, where I conduct research and disseminate knowledge on the intersection of museums, education, and technology. My goal in all my roles is to bridge gaps, hone natural abilities, and spark passions and pursuits that are productive and purposeful for the learners and the communities I serve. Professional Development Coordinator
The Teaching with Primary Sources at the University of Northern Colorado supports k-12 educators in Colorado and Wyoming. We provide free professional development workshops, design and deliver customized training, develop and inform on technology applications, and maintain and grow a network of partners in K-12 and higher education in promotion of critical thinking and other 21st-century skills and standards through the millions of primary sources, available online, from the Library of Congress. Thanks to grant funding from the Library of Congress, educators & students benefit from effective, inquiry-based, teaching & learning strategies. Not only do we encourage & facilitate the use of digitized primary sources from the Library of Congress website but we also contribute to a variety of educational disciplines through direct & personal support of pre-service and in-service teachers, administrators, district supervisors, librarians and media specialists from public, private, charter and virtual schools. We are working to put into place a number of sustainability structures, including research, conference participation, expansion and educational partnerships. We are, sincerely, interested in and committed to helping educators achieve beyond the standards in challenging circumstances among a diverse population of learners.
