  I worked in Education for a period of 35 years as both a teacher and school administrator. During my career I taught in public and private school settings. I served as an assistant principal in a middle school and as a building principal in several elementary schools. My last position was as principal of C.P. Smith Elementary School in Burlington, Vermont. I retired in 2010, but continued to work for the Burlington Schools in a variety of roles as a part of an early retirement agreement. My responsibilities included mentoring new principals, supervising and evaluating teachers, and substituting for building admintrators when they were absent. I currently still sub for the district. I am politically active and volunteer in local, state and national campaigns. One of my great joys is mentoring and I have mentored a student new to the country for 4 years now.
