  • Verizon Wireless
    Business Systems Analyst
    Verizon Wireless Jun 2014 - Jan 2016
    Basking Ridge, Nj, Us
As part of a team of 2-4 Business Analysts, I work to coordinate upwards of 75 projects at a time. I act as a liaison between the business and internal technology teams to gather and translate business requirements into technical requirements specific to our message delivery platform.I work with several technologies including XML, SQL, Clarity, SharePoint and many propriety applications to support analysis, architecture, design, development and testing. Through this process I determine the level of effort for each project, elicit the business requirements from sponsors, consult with architecture, development and quality to determine internal requirements and create all the necessary business and technical requirements documents and assist our creative and development with the creation of technical design documentation. My team supports marketing and reporting and projects that range from internal software development to multiple platform integration, WebSphere, message broker, database queries, batch process implementation, java code updates and management. While I am not fully hands-on technical I am able to read Java code, construct complex database queries, create detailed reporting and translate technical specifications from development to the business and vice versa.I handle 5-20 projects at a time, from very small to very large. I work with team members from the executive level to the end user level and all types of technical resources. I am able to easily adjust communication style and presentation content to the audience I am working with to ensure that all members of the teams are able to understand and interact with the information provided. With this heavy load, I spend a lot of time multi-tasking to ensure all details are captured, retained and communicated.
  • Verizon Wireless
    Technical Writer
    Verizon Wireless Aug 2015 - Dec 2015
    Basking Ridge, Nj, Us
Tasked with creating documentation for what are called Datasets, in the internal vernacular. These are technical java widgets that were created with a user-friendly interface to allow end users to build email, flyer, poster and SMS templates that can be delivered to Verizon customer either in real-time (when a transaction occurs) through automated processes or via on-demand services in the field by Sales Reps. There are hundreds of these little datasets that do a wide range of programmatic tasks but are meant to be user-friendly. Unfortunately, they aren't as user-friendly as they should be and no documentation was ever created. This means that it takes months of training for a new user to get up to speed on their use. I was given the monumental task of reviewing the code with the assistance of a developer, determining the functionality of each as a whole, along with the definition and use of each input and output and then documenting each one. I've built the necessary templates from scratch, worked with a variety of end users to ensure that all the types of useful information about each dataset is captured and I have been head down documenting these for several months. The resulting documentation is useful for end users, analysts who have to work on projects that might modify them, developers who need to get up to speed on their functionality quickly in order to make changes, and of course, the QA team who will need to test them. The results have been met with great acceptance and approval.
