It drives why I partner with leaders who feel they’re losing elements of the 4 C’s—Culture, Connection, Communication, and Community—as they grow.𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿? Ever been anxious about walking into a room full of people you don't know? Dreading conferences and events where you'll have to break into conversations and talk about superficial crap no ones cares about? What if you could feel calm, confident and excited about meeting new contacts? It IS possible. As an extremely shy child. I hated talking to people I didn't know. When I started my own business, I had to go to networking events. That's where you meet the people who can become your clients and referral sources. So you have to figure out how to get over the fear of walking into a room of strangers. I figured out how to put what I call my "quiet person" characteristics to work for me, instead of feeling like I needed to become someone else in order to succeed in that environment. Now I'm teaching other business professionals (many of whom are quiet, aka introverted) how to get comfortable with networking and building the business relationships that are the foundation of success.

Although I was a super shy child, I was so talkative around family and friends it only makes sense that my college major started out as broadcasting. Scared off by someone who assured me I'd have to leave the nation's capital, move to Iowa and work overnights for $200 a week, I changed my major. (Hey, some of us don't discover confidence to trust ourselves & inner guidance until later!) But broadcasting remained a passion. Time to return to the fun of voice over work. That means radio and TV commercials, narration for educational & training videos, interactive media, documentaries, corporate marketing, and e-Learning projects for local, regional, & national jobs. Having a background in marketing, corporate communications and broadcasting, AND having worked at agencies, in radio stations and in corporate offices means I understand what it's like on your side of the desk. I'm more than just a good voice. I know how to write as well how to interpret and deliver your message so that your audience takes the desired action.

Zen Rabbit Baking Company Mar 2003 - Jun 2014
Zen Rabbit made it really easy for busy professionals, corporate sales & customer service teams and business owners to increase client retention, get more referrals and boost new business using appreciation marketing. We created customized strategies for consistently staying in touch and saying thank you to customers and referral sources and then offered done-for-you programs for implementation. Did you hear my interviews with Bill Glazer, Jim Palmer, Ellen Rohr or Tony Gambone on this topic? More than just a warm, fuzzy gesture, sharing your gratitude for clients, partners and employees does yield positive, tangible results. The main tool we used to say thank you was The Gratitude Cookie™, so named because if you’re giving them to someone, you’re showing appreciation. Many of my clients got their business from referrals and wanted to say thank you more personally than with cash. Rewarding with money is a transaction; giving a gift creates a more emotional connection. Others were sending a token of appreciation for new business or making sure long-time customers knew their business was valuable.Zen Rabbit also made the seasonally available Zen Crunch, which was featured on Rachael Ray as a Snack of the Day.How are you making your clients, patients or members feel important and special?

WOW. Seems like a different lifetime when I was here. For many months, I was the one charged with going out and getting new clients for the agency. I courted wineries, financial institutions, government entities, local franchisees of national companies and a variety of other interesting businesses. At this agency, I also served as an Account Manager. That means I was the liaison between the clients and the creative department and the rest of the agency. In this position, like in law firms, you have to keep track of all your billable hours. Not my favorite job. When I was hired at the agency, it was as the Public Relations person. I was responsible for getting publicity for the agency's clients in local and national media. Requires great writing skills, which I have. Sometimes though, the media people can be mean! Pays to be persistent, which I am.
